SÃO PAULO (Reuters) – O dólar caiu frente ao real pelo sexto dia seguido, renovando o recorde de baixa desde janeiro de 1999. A segunda-feira, porém, foi de volume reduzido de negócios por causa do feriado nos Estados Unidos.
A moeda norte-americana fechou a 1,554 real, em queda de 0,26 por cento. É a menor cotação desde 19 de janeiro de 1999, pouco após a adoção do regime de câmbio flutuante.
A Ptax fechou a 1,5580 para venda, em queda de 0,12 por cento ante sexta-feira.
O volume de contratos negociados no vencimento mais líquido de dólar futuro, com prazo para agosto, era de apenas 84 mil até 16h30, uma hora e meia antes do fechamento. A média diária no mês passado foi de 328 mil contratos.
Diante da menor liquidez, o Banco Central fez apenas um leilão de compra de dólar no mercado à vista, diminuindo a intensidade de sua atuação após conduzir duas operações por dia desde quarta-feira passada.
Operadores notam a ausência de medidas extraordinárias do governo para tentar frear a queda do dólar, diferentemente do começo do ano, quando o Ministério da Fazenda elevou impostos e o Banco Central intensificou a compra de moeda para brecar a queda do dólar abaixo de 1,60 real.
“O mercado está no aguardo de alguma coisa mais defensiva por parte do governo”, disse o operador de uma corretora de derivativos em São Paulo. “Tecnicamente, falando em questão de fluxo, o país continua atrativo”, completou.
Na terça-feira, o ministro da Fazenda, Guido Mantega, participa de evento em Londres sobre oportunidades de investimento no país.
Dados da bolsa mostravam nesta segunda-feira que os investidores estrangeiros começaram o mês com uma aposta recorde na valorização do real. Em 1o de julho, eles sustentavam 23,5 bilhões de dólares em posições vendidas na moeda norte-americana em contratos futuros e de cupom cambial (DDI), a maior cifra ao menos desde a crise global de 2008.
